Led by Professor John Whitelegg.
A two-day short course for travel behaviour change and sustainable transport professionals. Day 1 focuses on “Travel Planning and Beyond”. How travel planning links with travel demand management, local case studies on enhancing travel planning through Transport Management Associations, developers submitting travel plans and travel planning with a target audience.
Day 2 will look at Low Carbon Transport and Safe Speed. Is a low carbon transport system possible (including case studies)? What environments are required to encourage safe speed?
The Short Course will have interactive components and will work towards outcomes that can be presented to agencies.

Join Curious Legends and Platform Youth Theatre as we create a show from scratch! Come learn new skills, meet friends and have an awesome time. You'll write the show, rehearse it and perform with us in December. Themed on friendship, this project will involve interactive web media that includes all of Darebin. FireUP is subject to numbers so bring your friends!

Opening Ceremony It may not be bigger but it’s certainly better than the Olympics Opening. Join MC Maysa Abouzeid, a blind Egyptian Italian comedian to kickstart the 2008 Northern Notes Writers Festival. She and her guide dog will make you laugh your way through those opening night formalities. Then once the formalities are out of the way watch the Northcote Civic Square light up to the world of visual poetry.

Why do people call certain pieces of music, or particular paintings poetic? What is the quality of poetry and how does it exist in a visual sense? During the opening of the festival there will be a showcase of visual, and concrete poetry from a selection of work by local, interstate and international practitioners of theses art forms. These will be projected on the side of the Northcote Town Hall. Greek-Australian poet ?? will project and provide elucidation on the subject of number poems, and Sjaak de Jong will be on hand to discuss concrete and visual poetries, their history and origins.
