Merciless Gods presented by Darebin Arts' Speakeasy and Little Ones Theatre
Tuesday, 25 July 2017
to Saturday, 5 August 2017
Presented by Darebin Arts' Speakeasy and Little Ones Theatre.
Based on the book by Christos Tsiolkas. Adapted by Dan Giovannoni.
Where do Gods live? In the sewers, with us
Cruel, kind, generous and capricious.
In this theatrical adaptation of the acclaimed short story collection by author and provocateur, Christos Tsiolkas, humans and fallen angels alike are playthings - prey to godly whims.
Vicious and tender, this is Australia. From migrant camps to gay saunas, pill-popping hipster dinner parties to porn sets, prison cells to the streets of King's Cross, Merciless Gods captures haunting slices of our psyche and unveils the hidden faces of ancient deities on mortal ground.
This stage adaptation of Tsiolkas' writings by Little Ones Theatre and award winning playwright Dan Giovannoni is urgent, dirty and glorious theatre that brings queer migrant voices to the stage.

Wednesday, 16 August 2017
to Saturday, 26 August 2017
Darebin Arts Speakeasy present an Elbow Room production Niche created by Emily Tomlins and Eryn Jean Norvill.
You've found your place, your tribe, your Niche...
Niche is a pop star. She writes songs about what it's like to be her, and it has made her famous.
Jodee doesn't know about pop music. She knows about dangerous viruses. That's why she's been hired by Niche's management.
Belonging is everything. Replication is more.
Powered by a pumping original soundtrack from Steve Toulmin and Marcel Dorney (Prehistoric), directed by Nic Holas and created by Eryn Jean Norvill and Emily Tomlins (a tiny chorus), Niche is a surreal, irreverent and deeply affecting story about what we really want from celebrity in the digital age.
